This small church is a fine example of a popular turn-of-the-twentieth-century type. The single-wall, tongue-and-groove building presents a modest Gothic visage, with four pointed-arched nave windows and, within, exposed interior king-post trusses. Sitting high above the road, the church complex includes a luau hall and cemetery. The Helani church originally was housed in a stone structure built by the shore in 1861 and now in ruins. With the mauka movement of the population, the church followed.
