Crested Butte's former depot, a standard D&RG Queen Anne model similar to those at Creede, Wagon Wheel Gap, and elsewhere, has living quarters above the waiting room. Vertical siding rises to the first-floor sills, with horizontal siding above. The steep-pitched roof has flared eaves with large, curved brackets, offsetting shingled, fullheight dormers with sunburst motifs in the gable peaks. After the spur line from Gunnison was abandoned in 1954, the station was converted to a community center and a home for the Crested Butte Mountain Heritage Museum.
