1893. 1993, restoration, Michael Holland, Bill Rosenberry, and Nan Lumb. Southeast corner of Maroon Ave. and 5th St.

This two-story school building of coursed, rough-faced stone has a square front bay centered between separate boys' and girls' entrances that are more typical of eastern schools of the day than of those in western communities. The two entrances are sheltered by bracketed canopies. Paneled doors have glazed transoms set beneath blind arches. The central bay rises to a shingled mansard topped by an open cupola with a shingled, bell-shaped cap and a weathervane. The schoolhouse is grouped on a cul-de-sac with the two-story brick high school (1927) and the contemporary frame middle school (1991) with sandstone block colored to match the sandstone of the Rock Schoolhouse.
