The City and County of Denver maintains this museum in a two-story rustic log and slab lodge with a second-story balcony, Stick Style trim, and stone chimneys. Built of undressed pine logs and hand-split shingles, the interior is animated by stuffed wildlife illuminated by pine-branch chandeliers. A bland new museum addition (1978) next door helps house a large collection of Buffalo Bill memorabilia, as well as paintings by western artists Charles S. Stobie, Charles Schrevogel, and Robert Lindneux.
