The Reverend Sheldon Jackson, a notable pioneer Presbyterian preacher, worked with parishioners to build this structure of local sandstone and Golden pressed red bricks. The Queen Anne Style church has an irregular plan, Gothic-arched doorways and windows, and a distinctive two-story, square, closed corner bell tower. The Rubey House (1899, Perre O. Unger) next door at 1510 Washington Avenue, now the gallery gift shop, was the work of a prominent local contractor who built many of the town's landmarks. The congregation moved to new quarters in 1958, and a decade later the Foothills Art Center recycled this lovely landmark as a gallery.
