1905, James Murdoch. 1500 Illinois St.

At the upper (west) end of the main campus axis, this administration building was erected with an $80,000 donation from smelter magnate and U.S. Senator Simon Guggenheim. A small, gold-domed cupola atop a square bell tower distinguishes the three-story gray brick building with side bays culminating in curvilinear parapets with roundels. This eclectic building has been restored as the campus centerpiece.
