1883, Alfred Snedeker, builder; 2005 renovation. 503 Whitaker St.

A mélange of Queen Anne and Second Empire styles, this house for cotton factor Heywood and his wife took full advantage of its site across from Forsyth Park, being fronted by a double gallery, a form not common in Savannah for a freestanding house. Its narrow cast-iron columns and rounded ends facilitated panoramic views. Pocket sash windows function as doors to the porches. The building serves SCAD as its official guest house.
