The grandest of the many house-and-store buildings in Uniontown was established by Harrison H. Weaver in 1859, becoming Devilbiss Store in 1908. Although sections of the building date to c. 1815, it was remodeled and expanded by Weaver to include the gable-front store with ornamental bargeboards, a form shared by other stores in Uniontown dating from the third quarter of the nineteenth century. Included among these is William Hiteshew’s store and tavern (c. 1856; 3476 Uniontown) and the Oliver Hiteshew House and added furniture store with meeting hall above (c. 1809, 1878; 3463 Uniontown). Also noteworthy is the William Anders House and attached shed-roofed tailor shop with intact storefront (c. 1877; 3451 Uniontown).
