The temple front on the wood-frame town hall has a Tuscan column portico that reflects the rediscovery of Jefferson's architecture around the turn of the twentieth century. The structure was donated to the town by Joseph E. Willard, the son of the builder of the Willard Hotel in Washington, D.C., whose mother was a wellknown resident of Fairfax and a Confederate sympathizer. The interior is essentially two large rooms, the second story lighted by dormers in the temple's roof. The building is now a center for the arts.
