c. 1875; moved 1895. 429 Main St. (northwest corner of Silver St.)

In 1895 the Knights of Pythias bought the east end of this two-story frame false-front and moved it here from Brownsville, a town that once existed a mile west. The west section of the building was added in 1903 by the Knights, who met in the upstairs hall until 1944. A heavy, bracketed cornice unites the two slightly askew all-wood structures. The south facade is nearly all glass to snatch sunshine and provide a view of funky Main Street and the mine-splotched mountains.
