Built for the Fraternal Order of Elks, this three-story neoclassical revival building’s seven-bay-wide stone-clad facade is richly articulated with Corinthian pilasters and columns between rectangular windows on the first story and columns and round-arched windows on the second. Scrolled keystones carrying sculpted heads top the second-floor windows and garlands decorate the cornice. The plain third story, set back from the main body of the building, is a later addition. The building was sold in 1940 and subsequently became a headquarters for the Gulf Oil Company, which left the location following the collapse of the oil industry in the early 1980s. Since 2014, it has housed the Tulane University School of Social Work.
