This Second Empire commercial building is an unusual survivor of the nineteenth century and the lone reminder of the time when Main Street was the city's retail center. Originally home to the S. A. Stevens Furniture Company, the building was later occupied by a succession of retail establishments. By the middle of the twentieth century it had been shorn of most of its exterior ornamentation. The building has been renovated and converted into offices.
