Gustave Ring, who had built Colonial Village, developed this 53-acre site as a further modification of the Stein-Wright garden city scheme used at Chatham Village, Pittsburgh. Warwick created five superblock groupings, containing 655 garden apartments, on about 12 percent of the space, leaving about 47 acres for green space, parks, recreation, roads, and parking. A shopping center was located on Columbia Pike. As usual, Colonial Revival forms and details were the architectural idiom.
