On King Street across from the courthouse are five commercial brick structures from c. 1800 (at numbers 1, 3, 5, 7, and 11) and then this former bank, an aggressive Richardsonian Romanesque structure by the architects of the Library of Congress. The original red sandstone base and brick upper floors have been painted white, but the various carved heads and foliage are still visible; it is being rehabilitated as a restaurant.
