Tucker Coliseum, which has seating for 3,500, has been the site of the university’s graduation ceremonies, concerts, and sports events since 1976. The circular concrete building’s exterior is defined by exposed reinforced concrete structural columns that rise the full height of the building to the roof, composed of a shallow dome. A covered walkway surrounds the building’s lower portion, and from it the upper section expands outward so that the walls are concave, not dissimilar to the Superdome in New Orleans, which was designed in 1967 and completed in 1975. The coliseum is named for former athletic director John E. Tucker.
