This church is the religious centerpiece for Mission's Hispanic population. Attributed to prolific Catholic church architect Dielmann, the red brick building is prominent for its Mission Revival parapets, limestone details, and four-story tower topped by a domed belfry. It also provided an open public space in the tightly built, mixed-use south-side sector, which contrasted with the more open, landscaped, mainly residential Anglo-American northern sector.
