This seven-story buff brick hotel has a vertical emphasis and a restrained use of stone ornament. The building's tripartite composition, reflecting Walling's training at the Fontainebleau School of Fine Arts in Paris, consists of a limestone-clad first story and a six-story brick body with stone window surrounds, topped by a stone cornice and balustrade. The hotel, one of four associated with the nearby railroad, and other commercial buildings on adjacent blocks formed the only significant urban setting in the county, a contrast to the suburban development in nearby College Station.
