With its rhythmically repeating glazed bays capped by double-pitched shed roofs that seem to be saluting, the United Way Center stands on the threshold between the Buffalo Bayou Park corridor and the West End neighborhood on the edge of an old ravine. Gensler incorporated sustainable practices and materials in the design of the ninety-thousand-square-foot building to maximize natural illumination yet moderate heat gain due to the extensive use of glass.
