2004, Brett Zamore. 4914 Curtin St.

Located in an obscure East End neighborhood, although it is next door to the bungalow neighborhood of Eastwood, developed in 1912, is Zamore's assimilation of two Southern vernacular house types—the dogtrot house and the shotgun cottage—in an affordable modern house suitable for a single occupant or a couple. Sliding louvered panels on each of the narrow house's long-side elevations impart a Southern regional touch by permitting the living room to be opened to the outdoors to achieve the dogtrot effect.
