Bartlesville, Oklahoma, architect Bruce Goff produced an exceptional house by responding to prosaic site conditions. The circular geometry of the house is keyed to the radius of the circular turnaround that terminates the culdesac street at whose head it sits. The rear of the house responds to the site's slope down to a small creek by taking off in the opposite direction with free-spirited exuberance. Meticulous craftsmanship—what look like wood shingles framing the circular front windows are molded bricks—gives the house material depth. Herb Greene administered construction of the original house while working for Houston architect Joseph Krakower. The year before his death in 1983, Goff completed extensive alterations and additions to the house for its third owner. The house is located in Piney Point Village, one of the separately incorporated suburban towns in the Memorial section completely surrounded by Houston.
