The one- and two-story house that Zemanek designed and constructed for himself takes seriously the site where it was built. Using such ordinary materials as insulated cement panels, corrugated sheet roofing, and even the roof tiles of the bungalow that previously occupied the lot, Zemanek discovered the exceptional qualities of an ordinary place and used architecture to magnify and intensify these qualities.
