When Warren and Wetmore designed the Texas Company Building downtown (
HN7), they also produced this house for Texaco's executive vice president in Houston, Thomas J. Donoghue. One of the first examples of the country house type to be built in Houston, the neo-Georgian Donoghue House was widely imitated in Houston and nearby communities (
BM15) . The house was built in Courtlandt Place, a residential boulevard with gate piers at either end, developed in 1907 and modeled on the private streets of St. Louis.
