A well-placed cornerstone authenticates the identity and architectural authorship of this narrow, one-story brick building. Leffland typologically identified it as a bank with a polished granite column that supports the corner entrance and ensured the building's visual prominence by reinforcing the repetition of arched window heads along Avenue H with piers and with copious corbeled brickwork in the frieze zone. Across Avenue H, at 1839 7th Street, is a long one-story, brick store-front, now altered at ground level but intact above the sidewalk canopy, which looks like Leffland's work.
