Commercial Building (Bank of Clinch Valley)

Commercial Building (Bank of Clinch Valley)

Commercial Building (Bank of Clinch Valley) Virginia Department of Historic Resources
1900; 1904 remodeled. 106 W. Main St.

Main Street's most arresting sight is this bank with a rock-faced brownstone facade featuring the era's popular walk-through corner entrance. The entrance's attenuated arch is supported by characteristically Richardsonian Romanesque stubby columns with foliated capitals. Above the arched windows of the second floor a gable laid against a parapet and pierced by a lunette provides a strong finish to this building.
