Danville's commercial area is a potpourri of buildings dating from the later part of the nineteenth century through the mid-twentieth century. Many of the nineteenth-century structures were “modernized” in the second half of the twentieth century, and some of them have since been restored. The Kingoff and A. J. Davis buildings are among the several brick buildings with relatively intact upper floors, mementos of the street's rich late-nineteenth-century architecture. Originally housing a confectionery and bakery, the Kingoff has an elaborate Flemish pediment in front of a mansard roof. The Davis, used for a cafe, has elaborate brickwork and a steep gable breaking through its parapet wall.
