The rectangular double-pile plan, five-bay facade, and modest Ionic portico of this antebellum mansion are familiar Greek Revival elements, while the bracketed lintels and the elongated windows they cap show emerging Italianate details and proportions. Two very alert cast iron dogs on sandstone plinths flank the front steps and guard the entrance. The house bears striking similarities to the Henry K. List House in North Wheeling (
WH36), as well as to Elm Hill (
WH75) on Bethany Pike.
