Picturesque Woodson's Mill, a large post-and-beam structure, is Nelson County's only water-powered mill still in operation. Probably built on the foundations of a late-eighteenth-century mill, the present building is three-and-a-half stories. Attached to it is a two-and-a-half-story west wing, where multitalented miller Dr. Julian Woodson had his medical and dental office. Today the mill has two waterwheels, a small wheel that generates electricity for the mill and a large steel wheel that drives the two sets of millstones.
