Luce's quirky, personalized Queen Anne residences nearby make this striking design seem more conventional. Although he employs many predictable decorative motifs, from carved panels to coffered plaques, the small gable on the Everett Street side, covered with cement in which glass is embedded, may be the first use of that treatment on a summer cottage in Newport.
