1889, George Champlin Mason and Son. 100 Rhode Island Ave. (at Catherine St.)

Late medieval Flemish architecture inspired this large, two-and-one-half-story house with prominent chimney pots, stepped side gables, and rotund engaged tower at the rear. The picturesque massing of peaks, roofline, and volumes is complemented by rusticated stone walling, quoining, carved plaques, gargoyles, and fanciful copper finials, all a bit rambunctious in scale and simplified in detail.
