The Greek Revival Jenkins House was modernized in the 1870s with brackets under the eaves and a bracketed hood over the entrances. Most radical change of all, a central cross gable disrupts the simple Greek Revival box, with a pair of arched windows and the scroll-cut foliated vergeboard to celebrate the new dispensation, as well as more space upstairs.
