In its Victorian heyday, Bankers’ Row stretched from S. 2nd to S. 6th streets and contained the major banking houses of the city. Their proximity permitted the concentration of new communication systems, including the telegraph and telephone and a centralized clearing house for transactions. Most of its buildings were demolished for the mall.
