Addison Hutton's study in asymmetrical Germanic medieval-styled brownstone for the Presbyterian congregation suggests sources other than his usual forays into English design. Its great spire is an important landmark in Doylestown, still the town's tallest structure. In addition to the Lenape Building (
BU30), Hutton was the architect of the city hall (1872), Central School (1873), and the courthouse (1877), all demolished. Doylestown's central district continues to the south across E. Oakland Street, where the 1891 Masonic Temple still stands.
