McConkey's Ferry Inn, the motel of its day, is a mid-eighteenth-century stone building that was enlarged along its original lines after the Revolution. The pent eave across the front and the central entrance are hallmarks of the rising formality of Georgian design. The nearby Mahlon K. Taylor House and the Taylorsville store and post office are early-nineteenth-century buildings that show the continuing use of Georgian proportions and details in rural areas.
