1817. 219 Court St.

A relatively late meetinghouse, this small building followed the norm of stucco over rubble masonry rather than the earlier cut stone in the continuing plain style. Although the second-story balcony has been converted to classrooms, the interior is largely intact and reflects its original appearance to serve a congregation formed by Edward Hicks, noted primitivist artist and Quaker minister. Hicks is buried in the adjacent graveyard.
