One of the district’s premier Prairie Style houses was built for Patrick E. Byrne, who served as a private secretary to governor John Burke from 1907 to 1913. The house, situated high on its site, is composed of dark brick for the ground level and stucco on the upper level. A broadly overhanging gabled roof extends the massing horizontally. Large bands of casement windows emphasize the openness of the house. This house embodies the Prairie School inclinations of George Grant Elmslie.
