Each of the pair of similar two-story, three-bay frame buildings at 16418 and 16420 Court Street has a centered dormer featuring horizontal six-light sashes. When these were built, storekeepers often lived over their store, but occasionally had their house next to their business. The differences in these two buildings clearly indicate the residential nature of number 16418, a house with a porch and set back from the road, and its commercial neighbor at number 16420, which stands directly on the property line with a storefront at first-story level. The H. O. Marshall Building (c. 1910) at 16430 Court has a cast-iron storefront manufactured by George L. Mesker and Company of Evansville, Indiana. At a later date the brick building's upper story was sheathed with pressed metal imitating rock-faced stone. Like many commercial buildings of its time, a one-story shed-roofed porch originally ran across the facade.
