Central bay windows that are pulled up into terminal conical-shaped towers with flaring eaves distinguish this hipped-roof clapboarded and shingled summer cottage and offer a view of the harbor. The curvature of the overhanging roof and the verandas that wrap around the front of the cottage emphasize the building's sheltering and hovering qualities. The roof recalls Bruce Price's umbrella motif in designs at Bar Harbor in Maine. Inside, space flows in a circular manner around the living and dining room fireplaces and the stairway. George B. Spear (b. 1858), president of the St. Louis, Missouri, Edible Nut Company, built the cottage on the occasion of his second marriage in 1900.
