Originally constructed for the National Resource Corporation, the three-story flattop building of white brick facing Memorial Drive has an overhanging canopy supported by four slender columns, which lead to the entrance. This almost self-conscious asymmetry reveals the division of the building into five bays by projecting piles. Converted and expanded for the Tang Center for Management Education, the building now has as its main entrance an arched circular glass overhang marking the corner of Wadsworth and Amherst streets. Within, Frank Stella's Heads or Tails (1988) dominates the lobby, imparting color and form to a cool high-tech aesthetic. Another entrance, on Amherst Street, features a steel-frame glass stairway. Three ample stories are set against concrete panels with rectilinear divisions—the whole somewhat reminiscent of an early-twentieth-century factory and Bauhaus aesthetic. A truss bridge leads to the Sloan School (Building E52; MT26).
