A thirties Moderne building, this engine house is more Art Deco than Streamline Moderne. The local Mason City architects articulated the hose-drying tower with layered panels and central vertical piers. Especially impressive is the lettering over the fire truck entrance; it has been realized in wide letters actually indented into the brick surface.
