This immense Richardsonian Romanesque pile covers some three acres. It was designed by Louis Lehle of Chicago, who became widely known throughout the Midwest for the design of breweries. The local firm of Fridolin Heer and Son supervised its construction. The first floor of the building is in stone, the upper floors in brick. Appropriate to the style are the numerous towers with steeply pitched roofs and corner pinnacles.
