This ten-story downtown theater and hotel block was the last major building completed in Davenport before the advent of the Great Depression. In style, the structure is Art Deco that has been highly simplified to express a sense of down-to-earth rationalism. The brick facade with metal spandrels is articulated by slightly recessed vertical bands containing paired windows. Two solid brick pavilions project out ever so slightly suggesting a Beaux-Arts Classical composition. The 2,700-seat theater (which is strongly Art Deco) was restored in 1985 and was reopened in 1986 as a performing arts center. It now forms part of the adjacent River Center.
