The Richardsonian Romanesque served as a point of reference for this coursed ashlar limestone block dwelling, but the picturesque medievalism of the Romanesque has been all but eliminated. The roofscape is calm and sedate; the rectangular openings and the great Richardsonian arches seem to refer to the world of geometry, rather than directly to a romantic past. On the first floor a rectangular groove cuts into the solid stone balustrade of the porch. The headers of the windows are directly adjacent to the roof soffits.
