Steele's later designs in the Prairie style, like those of George Grant Elmslie during the same years, retain only a few elements that one can directly associate with the style. Rows of vertical pilasters occur on the west side of this brick building, and a horizontal band of three lines is carried through the rows of windows on the first and second floors. Except for elements such as these, the design of this elongated three-story gabled block seems to convey a sense of rationalism and directness.
