According to the building permits for this project, there was as existing frame residence that disappeared within the present 12–unit apartment building. What appears to be a pair of independent buildings hides behind one of Iowa's most impressive facades. Each section of the building has a porch with two-story Ionic columns; above and behind the flat porch roofs arise elaborate scalloped gable ends. Between the building sections is a sumptuous double entrance door contained under a single broken entablature. Behind this wonderful frontispiece inspired by classical architecture are four good-sized apartments, one to a floor. The sense of dignity conveyed by the building is enhanced by the gray glazed brick and the similar colored caststone trim used to sheathe the walls.
