This is suburbia as it should be. A street meanders between two double rows of tall sycamores; the public walkways parallel to the street go between the trees and are separated from the street by a wide boulevard and from the adjacent houses by deep lawns. The houses are all modest in size, reflecting the Midwestern version of the Craftsman mode and the California bungalow. Many are single-story bungalows with entrance/living porches. Others are two-story dwellings that appear low to the ground because of their wide overhanging roofs and the banding of their walls; they have shingles above and painted clapboard below.
