A boiler shop for Harlan and Hollingsworth (WL8) was transformed in the 1990s into 38,000 square feet of office space. Little remains of the original building except the brick walls with elliptical-arch windows, a fire having ripped through just as the project began. A unique barrel roof design with dormers offered four additional floor levels. Not long after, a headquarters for the American Automobile Association (AAA) was built just south, in a historicizing, red-brick-warehouse style (2004–2005, Tevebaugh Associates). Big shipbuilding gantry cranes still stand along the riverbank nearby.
