1920, Henry T. Barnham. 132 W. Hicks St.

Double pilasters on the facade of this former bank support a full entablature below a wide parapet and flank the glazed entrance and the large multipaned second-story window above it. The side elevation also has large multipaned windows, flanked here by single pilasters. This bank and the former Brunswick Bank and Trust Company (BR6) use classical styling but to very different ends. The appearance of the first is solid, but closed and elite. This State Bank, with its many windows, looks open and welcoming, but still has the rock-solid appearance of classical conservatism.
