The Depression was well underway by the time this last of Richmond's large classical banks was completed. The limestone building includes an in antis colonnade of massive engaged Greek Doric columns that wraps around the block and continues up 8th Street. The entrance is at the corner, set within a handsome rusticated base. This is perhaps one of Richmond's best downtown structures in urbanistic terms and a high point of early twentieth-century architectural classicism.
