The last remaining dwelling in what was once a fashionable residential district, this three-story brick house has a side-hall plan, a sedate Greek Doric entrance porch, and a three-tiered porch on the rear. The house, which served as the home of the Robert E. Lee family during and immediately following the Civil War, was one of a row of similar structures in the block. Although this historic house is overwhelmed in scale by the office tower to the immediate west, it has hardly been diminished in street presence.
