Built on land donated by Mrs. William Bruestadt, the theater hosted vaudeville, movies, and local shows and events. A fire in the projection booth in 1928 destroyed the front of the building. Under new ownership, the building was given a Spanish Revival facade, canopy, and marquee. The theater closed as a movie house in 1978 and reopened in 1986 as a live performance venue.
